The Uruguayans are favourites to win this section and rate a decent bet at 8/11 (Ladbrokes), with the South American side having finished second in CONMEBOL qualifying to reach Russia.

The Portuguese arrive as European champions and will be focused on landing at least a point from this clash, with Fernando Santos’ team 23/10 (Paddy Power) to get the job done with a draw.

If you think that the outsiders can land the spoils, then Ladbrokes have 7/2 that they do a number on a Spanish side who will have bad memories of losing 5-1 to the Netherlands in their 2014 World Cup opener.

Live on BBC1: Sat 11:00: France v Australia France look like banker material for their Group C opener against Australia, with Les Bleus priced at 2/9 (Ladbrokes) to get the better of the Socceroos and settle into the World Cup.

The team from Down Under will hope to catch their opponents cold and they can be backed at a massive 18/1 (Ladbrokes), with manager Bert van Marwijk looking for his side to be physical and organised in this clash.
